Abstract

Visual instructional media and diagnostic assessment represent two fundamental strategies for detecting early learning difficulties in students. Visual media help simplify abstract concepts by offering tangible representations that enhance comprehension, particularly for learners with varied cognitive profiles. Conversely, diagnostic assessment plays a vital role in identifying barriers in the learning process, such as cognitive, linguistic, or psychosocial challenges. This literature review seeks to evaluate the contribution of both approaches within primary education. An examination of selected international studies demonstrates that combining diagnostic assessment with visual media considerably improves the accuracy of pedagogical interventions. In addition, the integration of these methods enables teachers to deliver more personalized instruction that addresses individual learning needs. The findings emphasize the significance of adopting a multimodal framework that links instructional delivery with diagnostic insights. Such an approach enhances inclusive educational practices and ensures timely support for students who may encounter difficulties, ultimately fostering equitable learning opportunities from the earliest stages of schooling.
